Mr. Chandana Seneviratne

Mr. Chandana Seneviratne, Acting Deputy Director of SLAEB joined the establishment in 2005 accumulating experience in various fields on matters relevant to the SLAEB such as the Non- Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection and training at NCNDT, introducing several practical proposals which had high demand to the enhancement of technical competency of Sri Lankans which contribute to the social and economic advancement of the country.

Recognizing the experience and industry knowledge, Mr. Seneviratne was selected for employment at SAMREF in Saudi Arabia which is one of the largest oil refineries in the world as a Plant Inspector for a period of two and half years. On his return to Sri Lanka, he was once again inducted to SLAEB considering his valuable experience and knowledge.

He obtained a degree of Master of Information Technology from the University of Colombo as the postgraduate performances after the Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Colombo in Mathematics and Chemistry streams and a combination of subjects including Nuclear Science, Environmental Physics, Industrial Chemistry and etc. Further, he has successfully completed the Graduate Training Program on Information Technology embedded with programming and rapid application development advancements. 

Mr. Seneviratne is an individual whose ethics are based on tolerance understanding and willingly offering his knowledge and experience for those seeking the services that are being offered by SLAEB which is a considerable asset to the SLAEB.

The Welder Qualification Facility which is the brainchild of Mr. Seneviratne is a program that would produce highly qualified welders to meet the challengers locally and internationally as this facility provides the opportunity to Sri Lankans to gain maximum knowledge and experience in the art of welding.

He worked as a group leader of localization assessment, which is one of the 19 issues raised by IAEA for the development of nuclear power program in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Seneviratne has been instrumental in initiating several new proposal programs that are in the process of implementing all of which have been highly beneficial and acclaimed by the management of SLAEB as these proposals are for the benefit of Sri Lankans.

  • Initiation of “SL Class” for the benefit of the industrial and marine sector and save foreign remittance spending for the royalty fee charge of foreign classes and invest them on subjective development and identified leading social responsibilities of Sri Lanka.
  • Enhancement of boiler and pressure vessel safety management through introducing periodic inspection and data tracking system in Sri Lanka (contain the value of introducing the Boiler Act in Sri Lanka).
  • Introducing a Diploma level qualification on the stream of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) based on Sri Lanka Qualification Framework (SLQF) to promote technical skills of Sri Lankan youth and make opportunities to serve local and international demands.

Mr. Seneviratne is a person who works with a high degree of responsibility and his ability to comprehend any matter is his forte and his moral character has been exemplary.
