Deputy Director – Isotope Hydrology

Mrs Maheshika Kalpage currently serves as the Deputy Director of Isotope Hydrology Section. Ms Kalpage graduated with B.Sc. (Agriculture) from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She completed her MSc in Molecular and Applied Microbiology and M Phil in Plant Protection from Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya. She was recruited to Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board in 2012 as a Scientific Officer and she worked in the field of application of nuclear techniques in food and agriculture. She was promoted to the current position in 2019 and now she focuses on applications of isotope techniques in hydrology. In this context, she involves in isotope studies on groundwater origin, recharge, groundwater dating,aquiferInteractions, groundwater pollution/contamination as well as water quality studies.
