Deputy Director – Technical Development & Services

Mr.Prasad Mahakumara has obtained B.Sc Physical Science Degree with second class upper from University of Peradeniya in year 2000.He has joined to the predecessor of Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board, Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) as a Scientific Officer in year 2001 and obtained his Postgraduate degree in Nuclear Science from University of Colombo in year 2005.

Mr.Mahakumara was promoted to Senior Scientific Officer position in year 2006 and Deputy Director Post of Radiation Protection and Technical Services Division in year 2014.He has obtained one year research experience on Radiation Protection and its System Development at the University of Tokyo under the MEXT research exchange program. Also has upgraded his knowledge by participating international training programs, workshops, fellowships and meeting related to radiation measurements and instrumentation.

Mr.Mahakumara involved in designing and development of radiation measuring instrument with microcontroller programming and interface software developments. Currently he is involving in national and international projects on Environmental Radiation Monitoring, Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Response and Nuclear Security.
