Chairman of Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board

Mr. Sampath Chandrasena who has more than 23 years’ of experience in Governmental and Non-Governmental organizations in Sri Lanka and overseas has been appointed as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board in November 2018. Previously, on part time basis,he functioned as Working Director and a Board Member of the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board. He has also been functioning as a Coordinating Secretary to the Hon. Minister of Power and Renewable Energy. Mr. Chandrasena is an appointed Director of Skills Development Funds Ltd, Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training in Sri Lanka. 

He obtained Master of Science (MSc.) degree and bachelors degree from University of Colombo and reading Master of Philosophy (MPhil) leading to PhD at University of Colombo. He is a professional member of British Computer Society (MBCS) and Computer Society of Sri Lanka (MCSSL). He also completed overseas training in CDAC, India , 'E-Government' training at Maastricht School of Management (MsM), Netherland and Okinawa International Centre, Okinawa, Japan. He holds Diploma in Management from Open University of Sri Lanka. Mr. Chandrasena participated in several national and international training,workshops,seminars and conferences related to the nuclear science and technology field during last four years. 

He is a Visiting Lecturer of Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo, Visiting Consultant for Institute of Human Resource Advancement, University of Colombo, Network_Manager/ Lecturer/ Course Coordinator for National Centre for Advanced Studies, Ministry of Higher Education, Sri Lanka. In addition he worked as an IT consultant to the Cabinet Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (CARP) and Assessor on National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) level five and six for Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka.
