Radiation Processing Section |
The Radiation Processing Section is mainly concentrate on the Research and Development activities which come under the projects of International Atomic Energy Agency and Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board.The main objectives of the Radiation Processing Section is to developradiation processed environmental friendly products which are free from hazardous materials for Agricultural, Environmental, Health and Industrial applications. Also to upgrade the quality of the developed products by carrying out field trials in collaboration with responsible institutions in the field of Agriculture, Health and Industry.
Another objective of the section is to disseminating knowledge on irradiation and radiation processing technologies by conducting Seminars, Workshops, Awareness programs and Exhibitions

Isotope Hydrology Section |
The key objectives of establishing Isotope Hydrology Section of the Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) are,
- To assist water resources related institutes, researchers and universities to expand their studies on groundwater management using isotope techniques.
- To assist dam owner institutes to investigate dam/reservoir leakage and seepage problems using environmental isotopes and artificial tracers.
- To assist other institutes in the fields of mining, geological survey, irrigation, agriculture, marine, petroleum industry, hydro power etc for underground leakage/seepage problems, flow movements, pollutant transferring investigations etc
