IRMS Analysis
Purpose
Analysis of stable isotope ratios of selected elements Carbon (13C/12C), Hydrogen 2H/1H), Oxygen (18O/16O), Nitrogen (15N/14N) and Sulfur (34S/32S) using Isotope Ratio Mass Spectroscopy (IRMS) technique. The test is performed mainly for the purpose of Authentication, Geographical Origin Verification and Adulterant determination of various materials, foods and products. It facilitates national and international regulatory authorities to build traceability systems for commercial products such as food and beverages.
Target groups
Any target group such as commercial entities, industries and national and international regulatory bodies, having requirements of the following nature.
- Authentication of food and beverages (Tea, Coconut, Milk, Spices)
- Determination of Adulteration of Spices (chili, turmeric)
- Differentiate Organic and Farming with Synthetic Fertilizer
- Identification origin of bottled water
- Authentication of pharmaceutical products
- Identification of environmental pollution sources
- Various Research and Development. Studying of water and nutrient uptake of plants, screening of steroid doping, understanding of metabolic pathways of human.
Technology
Isotope Ratio Mass Spectroscopy (IRMS) is a powerful analytical technique, a variant of Mass Spectroscopy (MS). It differs from ordinary MS, that it measures the ratio of stable isotopes of specific types of elements contained in almost all materials and products. In this service, stable isotope ratios are analyzed for elements Carbon (13C/12C), Hydrogen 2H/1H), Oxygen (18O/16O), Nitrogen (15N/14N) and Sulfur (34S/32S). The set of these ratio values is called Isotope Fingerprints of materials and products. IRMS can uncover valuable information about food, fibers, liquids and stones embedded in their unique isotope fingerprints. Such information includes geographic region, botanical processes, soil, or fertilization processes since geology, geography and growth conditions.
Charges/cost estimation process
The tests are charged per sample.
