As per the IAEA Report, Sri Lanka has made considerable progress over the last year in collecting additional  regional  and site-specific data. The initial twenty-seven (27) potential sites have been reduced to five (05) candidate   sites across four (04) regions. More site-specific data remains to be collected (e.g. geological and hydrogeological   data, information on historical earthquakes, site-specific geophysical data, meteorological data, population and land   use data, information relevant to human-induced events, and perhaps most importantly, coastal flooding data)   before a comparison and ranking of the five sites can be completed to arrive at a preferred site for a future Nuclear   Installation. In addition, IAEA report pointed out that the siting working group demonstrated a good understanding   of the data collection work that lies ahead to meet the siting expectations in SSG-35.

Furthermore, the Sri Lanka project team has made very good progress toward addressing the recommendations   from the 2024 mission report. The recommendations from 2024 can now be replaced by the new recommendations   in this report.
