Educational Study Tour to SLAEB
As part of an educational study tour, 40 undergraduate students and academic staff members from the Department of Physics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, visited the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board (SLAEB) head office and the National Centre for Non Destructive Testing (NCNDT) on 25th June 2026.
The programme was organized to enhance students understanding of the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology in Sri Lanka. Participants attended presentations and laboratory demonstrations on the functions of SLAEB, Nuclear safety, Radiation applications, nuclear power and ongoing national initiatives at the SLAEB head office. They also visited the NCNDT, where experts demonstrated modern non-destructive testing techniques used in industrial quality assurance and safety inspections.
The visit provided valuable practical exposure, enabling students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications while gaining insights into career opportunities in the nuclear science and technology sector.
