20150723 104054The National training course on “Basic Mutation Breeding Techniques for Crop Improvement” was successfully held from 20-24 July, 2015 at Field Crops Research and Development Institute, Mahailluppallama. The training course was organized under the activities of IAEA Technical Cooperation Project 5045 titled “Establishment of National Centre for Nuclear Agriculture”. The training course was organized by the Department of Agriculture in collaboration with Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board.

IMG 2992An awareness programme on drug prevention was conducted by Mr. Chamara Pradeep Karunaratne, Prevention Education and Training Sector Officer of National Dangerous Drug Control Board (NDDCB) on  04th August 2015 at Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board (SLAEB).   This programme has been organized in line with  the National Drug Prevention Programme which is island-wide launched  under the directive of H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena with the theme of Drug Free Country’.

pic7The regional training course on “Integrated Soil Conservation Practices to Mitigate Soil Erosion and the Role of Nuclear Technique” is being held at hotel Galadari from 27 to 31 July, 2015. This training course is organized and hosted by the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board (SLAEB) in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) under the project RAS/5/055 titled “Improving Soil Fertility, Land Productivity and Land degradation Mitigation”.

Indo Sri Lanka Civil Nuclear Agreement

altThe Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of India signed a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in New Delhi on 16th February 2015, during the state visit of President Maithreepala Sirisena to India. The deliberation on drafting this agreement has begun in way back in 2012 and three bilateral consultation meetings between India and Sri Lanka were held on October 2012, May 2014 and October 2014.
The signed bilateral agreement has been  focused  more on peaceful uses of nuclear energy,  and Multilateral Conventions signed by both India and Sri Lanka on nuclear and radiological emergency notification & assistance, have made provisions for notifications & assistance to affected States in case of an emergency.

CHITO- POWER has won the first place at the "SAHASAK NIMAVUM-2014" National Exihibition

 

 

 

 

 

 

CHITO-POWER, the New Product, use for agricultuaral application, developed by Radiation Processing Section of AEA in collaboration with Department of Agriculture has won the FIRST PLACE under the OPEN CATEGORY in the technical field of ENVIRONMENT at the “SAHASAK NIMEVUM-2014” National Invention Exhibition organized by Inventors Commission of Sri Lanka. The awarding ceremony was held at the BMICH on 16th December 2014 with the participation of Mrs.Dhara Wijayatilake, Secretary, Ministry of Technology and Research as the Chief Guest.
