Mrs. Anoma Ratnayake
Mrs. Anoma Ratnayake is presently working as the Deputy Director of Radiation Processing Section of SLAEB and has completed 34 years of service in the Authority. She obtained her first degree from Open University of Sri Lanka in 1993 and MSc Degree in Nuclear Science from the University of Colombo in 2000. She had followed one year Quality Management Diploma in Sri Lanka Standard Institute in 2013.
She joined AEA in 1981 and promoted as a Scientific Officer in 1995 after her first degree and subsequently promoted to Senior Scientific Officer and post of Deputy Director. Ms. Anoma started her carrier in the Authority by supporting research and development work on “Food Irradiation”. She was assigned as the In-Charge of Personal Monitoring Service in1992 and continued until 2011.
She has twenty years of experience in the field of Personal Dosimetry and developed her career advancement through participating several international trainings and workshops. In addition to that she had received three months fellowship training on Personal Dosimetry from University of Austria and four months fellowship training from Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute. As the National coordinator for the IAEA/ RAS project on Occupational Exposure Control she has improved the activities of Personal Monitoring Service and initiated a program for accreditation of Personal Dosimetry Laboratory.
She has carried out research work on Food Irradiation and Personal Dosimetry during her career and published the achievement.
As the Deputy Director of Radiation Processing Section, she has involved in research and development work on radiation processing of natural products. Presently, she holds the position of National Project Coordinator of two international projects which are conducted by the section.
Also she is working as the In-Charge of Training and Evaluation unit of AEA which was established to monitor and evaluate all research and development activities and training activities of SLAEB.
