Mr. M.M.P.Wijesekara has been functioning as the Acting Senior Deputy Director (Finance & Administration) of Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board (SLAEB) since 2011.
After completing required practical training and Licentiate examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) Mr.Wijesekara joined the Building Materials Corporation (BMC) in 1985 as an Accounts Assistant and promoted as the Accountant (stock control).
In 1986 he joined the Ceylon Plywoods Corporation (CPC) as the project Accountant of Timber Felling Project at Kanneliya. Subsequently he was promoted as the Accountant (Book Keeping) of the CPC head office Colombo. Mr.Wijesekara completed the Diploma in Business Management course at NIBM and obtained the membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT) during the year 1988. He was the In Charge of the book keeping section of the CPC head office and factories during 1987 – 1989.
He has also served as the Internal Auditor of the Coconut Research Institute (CRI), Lunuwila from 1989 to 1995. During this period he was the In Charge of the Internal Audit unit of the CRI.
In 1995, Mr.Wijesekara joined as the Cost Accountant of the National Engineering Research & Development Centre (NERD). During this period he contributed to establish the Costing System and Pricing Policy for the NERDC. In addition he actively participated in the finance matters pertaining to major projects such as University hostel projects, Crematorium projects, Construction of bunkers in Eastern Province and import and sale of high tensile wires for the construction industry
Mr.Wijesekara resigned from NERD for the better prospects and joined as the Head (Finance & Supplies) of the Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) in 2005. He subsequently promoted as the Acting Senior Deputy Director (Finance & Administration).While working at AEA he followed the Master Degree in Public Management (2006–2008 Batch) at Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration. Mr.Wijesekara contributed to the development the Pricing Policy and costing system of the AEA.
Mr.Wijesekara possesses a continuous service in public sector institutions in Sri Lanka more than 30 years.
