Mr. T.M.R.Tennakoon has been functioning as the Director of National Centre for Non Destructive Testing (NCNDT) of Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board (SLAEB) since 2014.
After graduating from University of Colombo with B.Sc (Physics Special-Second Class Upper Dev.) Honours Degree in 1987 , Mr. Tennakoon joined the predecessor of Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board, Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) as a Scientific Officer in the same year. He subsequently promoted to the positions of Senior Scientific Officer, Head of the NDT Section, Senior Deputy Director and Director of NCNDT. While working at the AEA, he obtained Master of Science Degree in Nuclear Science from University of Colombo in 1996 and Master of Philosophy Degree in Materials Engineering -M.Phil. from University of Moratuwa in 2011. He has certified to Level III in all in common NDT methods-Radiographic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, and Eddy Current Testing as per ISO 9712. In addition, he has successfully completed Professional Development Programme in Project Management in 2012 at National Institute of Business Management-NIBM. He has contributed to the scientific community by publishing two (02) international publications and nine (09) conference presentations.
He has participated in several training courses related to Nuclear Science and Technology including NDT, in overseas by attending 27 IAEA / JICA / Koica, meetings / workshops/ seminars/ training programmes as the national representative for NDT.
He submitted the proposal for establishment of NCNDT and was the Project Director of the same project. He dedicated very much to establish the present NCNDT on time and currently he is the Director of NCNDT.
Mr Tennakoon is an energetic smart worker, who believes in maintaining a high degree of dedication & commitment in all the duties engaged. He also a talented person, ready for new & existing challenges and he personally believes that there should be a challenge behind a person for any success. He excels starting new projects and willing to work hard to achieve goals. His ultimate goal is to find a challenging position in a dynamic & rapidly growing environment that would enhance his knowledge and skills while contributing his best to the NDT field.
Mr. Tennakoon possesses an unblemished career record of 28 years in SLAEB and its predecessor AEA in the field of NDT.
