Indo Sri Lanka Civil Nuclear Agreement

altThe Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of India signed a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in New Delhi on 16th February 2015, during the state visit of President Maithreepala Sirisena to India. The deliberation on drafting this agreement has begun in way back in 2012 and three bilateral consultation meetings between India and Sri Lanka were held on October 2012, May 2014 and October 2014.
The signed bilateral agreement has been  focused  more on peaceful uses of nuclear energy,  and Multilateral Conventions signed by both India and Sri Lanka on nuclear and radiological emergency notification & assistance, have made provisions for notifications & assistance to affected States in case of an emergency.

CHITO- POWER has won the first place at the "SAHASAK NIMAVUM-2014" National Exihibition







CHITO-POWER, the New Product, use for agricultuaral application, developed by Radiation Processing Section of AEA in collaboration with Department of Agriculture has won the FIRST PLACE under the OPEN CATEGORY in the technical field of ENVIRONMENT at the “SAHASAK NIMEVUM-2014” National Invention Exhibition organized by Inventors Commission of Sri Lanka. The awarding ceremony was held at the BMICH on 16th December 2014 with the participation of Mrs.Dhara Wijayatilake, Secretary, Ministry of Technology and Research as the Chief Guest.

A Presidential and NRC Awards for a Scientific Publication

Ms. M. C. S. Seneviratne of AEA has won a Presidential Award for her research publication titled “Characterization and source apportionment of particulate pollution in Colombo, Sri Lanka” which appeared in the research journal “ATMOSPHERIC POLLUTION RESEARCH 2011, Vol 2, Iss 2, pp 151-157”.

She was presented with the award by H.E. the President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Waters Edge on 31st October 2014.

At the same time a NRC Merit Award was presented to Mr. V.A. Waduge, Ms. L. Hadagiripathira, S. Sanjeewani and Ms. T. Attanayake who are the co authors of the project.

AEA Receives an Award

Chito-power, the new product developed by the Radiation Processing Section of the AEA, which was displayed at the “Sahasak Nimavum 2014” exhibition, has won an award and the group responsible in producing this product will be presented with the award at the “Nuga Sewana” hall of the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on 16th December  2014. This award will be presented by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission.
Chito-Power developed by the Atomic Energy Authority (AEA), which is under the Ministry of Technology and Research, in collaboration with the Horticultural Research and development Centre (HORDI), Gannoruwa, under the Department of Agriculture, can be used as a natural plant growth promoter as well as elicitor with antimicrobial activity in agriculture applications.

 altThe National Center for Non-Destructive Testing (NCNDT) of the Atomic Energy Authority is pleased to inform that National training course on Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) - level 2, will be held from 16th to 24thDecember 2014 at the National Centre for Non Destructive Testing.
This 42 hour training course is aimed in providing participants with a comprehensive knowledge of theory and practical training on Magnetic Particle Testing to enable the participants to set up and calibrate test equipment and apply appropriate test procedures.
