Prof. (MS) Thushara Rathnayake

Prof. Thushara Ratnayake is an accomplished academic and professional in the fields of electrical engineering, nuclear engineering, energy management, and sustainable development. With extensive academic training from both Sri Lanka and Japan, Prof. Ratnayake has established a distinguished career in higher education, research, and public sector energy governance. Prof. Ratnayake obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nuclear Engineering and Management from the University of Tokyo, Japan, one of the world’s leading institutions in advanced engineering research. Prior to completing his doctoral studies, she earned a Master of Engineering in Quantum Engineering and Systems Science from the same university, further strengthening his expertise in advanced technological systems and engineering management. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc Eng) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka’s premier engineering university. Professionally, Prof. Ratnayake serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, where she contributes to engineering education, research, and the development of future engineering professionals. In addition to her academic responsibilities, she also serves as a Student Counsellor, providing guidance and support to undergraduate students in their academic and personal development. Beyond academia, Prof. Ratnayake has played an important role in Sri Lanka’s energy sector. She serves as a Director and Board Member of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority, contributing to the formulation and implementation of policies and initiatives aimed at promoting renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable energy development in the country. Dr.Mahendra Prinath Dias
Dr. Prinath Dias is a highly respected nuclear engineer and energy sector professional whose career spans academia, national regulatory leadership, and international service in the field of atomic energy. With decades of experience in nuclear engineering, radiation safety, energy policy, and technological development, he has made significant contributions to the advancement of nuclear science both in Sri Lanka and internationally. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nuclear Engineering and Master of Science (MS) in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University, USA, one of the world’s leading institutions in nuclear engineering education and research. Prior to his postgraduate studies, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc Eng) in Electrical Engineering in Sri Lanka, establishing a strong foundation in engineering principles and technological applications. Throughout his distinguished professional career, Dr. Dias has held several key leadership positions within Sri Lanka’s atomic energy sector. He served as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Authority, where he provided strategic direction for the promotion of peaceful applications of nuclear technology and the development of national nuclear science programmes. He also served as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Regulatory Council, overseeing regulatory frameworks and safety standards related to the use of radiation and nuclear technologies. At the international level, Dr. Dias served as a Senior Professional at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), contributing to global initiatives aimed at promoting the safe, secure, and peaceful use of nuclear science and technology. His expertise was further recognized through his appointment as Chairman of the IAEA/RCA Programme Advisory Committee, where he played an important role in guiding regional cooperative programmes in science, technology, and capacity building across Asia and the Pacific. In addition to his contributions to policy and regulation, Dr. Dias has had a distinguished academic career as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa. Dr. Manuja Lamabadusuriya
Dr. Manuja Lamabadusuriya is a distinguished academic and researcher with expertise in analytical chemistry, nuclear science, and food science and technology. Her multidisciplinary educational background and extensive experience in higher education have enabled her to make significant contributions to scientific teaching, research, and knowledge development in Sri Lanka. Dr. Lamabadusuriya obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Analytical Chemistry from Washington State University, USA, where she developed advanced expertise in analytical methods and chemical sciences. She further strengthened her academic foundation by earning a Master of Science (MSc) in Analytical Chemistry from Kansas State University, USA. In addition, she holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Food Science and Technology from the University of New South Wales, Australia, reflecting her broad scientific interests and interdisciplinary approach to research. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Colombo, obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry. Professionally, Dr. Lamabadusuriya serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Nuclear Science at the University of Colombo, where she is actively engaged in teaching, academic supervision, and research. Through her role, she contributes to the advancement of nuclear science education and the development of scientific and technical expertise among undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her academic and research interests encompass analytical chemistry, radiochemistry, applied nuclear science, environmental analysis, and advanced laboratory techniques. Mr. Sumith Wickramage
Mr. Sumith Wickramage is an accomplished management and development professional with extensive experience in business administration, financial management, and international development. Over the course of his career, he has built a strong reputation for providing strategic, financial, and operational leadership within both the public and development sectors, contributing to the successful implementation of large-scale national and international programmes. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, which has equipped him with advanced knowledge in strategic management, organizational leadership, and business decision-making. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Special) from the same university, developing a strong foundation in management, finance, and organizational studies. Professionally, Mr. Wickramage is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA – Sri Lanka) and is partly qualified in Chartered Accountancy, reflecting his expertise in financial management, accounting, budgeting, and corporate governance. His professional qualifications complement his extensive practical experience in managing complex projects and institutional operations. Mr. Wickramage brings more than sixteen years of professional experience working with leading international development agencies and organizations. His career includes assignments with prominent institutions such as the Global Fund, Asian Development Bank, International Executive Service Corps, British Council, and MAS Holdings. Mr. Tissa Liyanage
Mr. Tissa Liyanage is a highly experienced engineering professional with an extensive career spanning more than three decades in the chemical and manufacturing sectors. His expertise encompasses industrial operations, process engineering, technology management, and organizational leadership, gained through service in both the public and private sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc Eng) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, one of Sri Lanka’s leading institutions for engineering education. Further enhancing his professional capabilities, he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Management of Technology (PG Dip. MOT) from the University of Moratuwa, equipping him with knowledge in technology management, innovation, and industrial development. Mr. Liyanage is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (MIE Sri Lanka), reflecting his professional standing and commitment to maintaining high standards of engineering practice. Over the course of his career, he has accumulated more than 35 years of industry experience, particularly within the chemical industry and other manufacturing sectors. Dr. Rupa Kannangara
Dr. Rupa Kannangara is a distinguished medical specialist in radiology with extensive expertise in diagnostic and interventional radiology. With a career spanning over fifteen years as a consultant radiologist, she has made significant contributions to clinical practice, medical education, professional training, and healthcare administration in Sri Lanka. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in Sri Lanka and subsequently completed her Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Radiology, specializing in advanced diagnostic imaging and image-guided therapeutic procedures. Her professional qualifications have established her as a leading expert in the field of radiology and medical imaging. Dr. Kannangara currently serves as an Interventional Radiologist at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, where she is involved in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures that play a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of medical conditions. Throughout her professional career, she has served as a Consultant Radiologist for more than fifteen years, providing specialist services and contributing to the enhancement of radiological healthcare services across the country.
